On 18th April, Children in India initiated the discussion to conduct a meeting with the Child Development Centre (CDC), Thiruvananthapuram for a training to be conducted for the medical practitioners and DEIC functionaries in the Jammu and Kashmir region. Dr. Ashu Jamwal, Head of Pediatrics at SMGS Shalamar, Jammu reiterated that they are able to screen for early detection but doctors are not trained for early intervention. Thus, a requirement of the creation of a training module on Autism was suggested by the panel experts of CDC, led by DIrector -in -charge of CDC, Dr. Deepa Bhaskaran who stated that an online training session followed by a hands-on workshop will be facilitated. The training would be documented and replicated across DEIC’s in all the states. CDC initiated the plan of action which was followed by the Children in India team.
