Outreach program on disability awareness in school – 26th July

November 1, 2023

On 26th July, Children in India's school outreach program on disability awareness made a great impact, at the Government Sarvodaya Co Education Vidyalaya, Ambedkar Nagar, New Delhi. The engaging one-hour session saw enthusiastic participation from eighth-grade boys and girls. Through discussions, forum theatre, simulation games, and role plays, the children showed genuine interest and empathy towards various disabilities, including visual challenges, hard of hearing, and speech difficulties. The interactive activities also shed light on matters like universal accessibility and inclusive education.

This successful outreach was made possible due to the active cooperation and generous support of Ms. Jagroshini, the School Principal, who played a crucial role in ensuring its success. Notably, the school itself has taken significant strides towards inclusive education, having an inclusive education teacher who himself has a visual impairment. Additionally, the school accommodates several students with disabilities, who study as regular students, fostering an inclusive and compassionate learning environment. We at Children in India firmly believe that we can sow the seeds of change in young minds, inspiring them to become advocates for a world where every individual, regardless of ability is Embraced, Empowered to Thrive and be integrated into Mainstream Education.
